The emphasis was on youth this time around and not one Philly native made his way onto Coach Nowak's roster. Venezuelan international Alejandro Moreno, hitherto in the services of the Columbus Crew, was one of few big names to make Philly's list.

Okay, so who was RSL MVP of the season?

Posted on 23 November 2009 by ASN Staff

There should probably not be any dispute with the choice of Nick Rimando as MLS Cup MVP. Perhaps not if we were to name him "playoff MVP" as well. But what about a most valuable player of the whole, long season? It was a long slog, after all. Who deserves the most credit for getting the team to its ultimate goal? Vote in the poll and defend your choice in the comment area. [polldaddy poll=2293856]

RSL win MLS Cup on penalties

Posted on 22 November 2009 by ASN Staff

The victors

It took penalties but Real Salt Lake prevailed over the LA Galaxy Sunday night at Qwest Field in Seattle, winning their first MLS Cup title in their first appearance in the title match. RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando was the hero once more, saving two penalties and deservedly winning the 2009 MLS Cup MVP.

Kali Korbis has the happy recap from Utah.
