Bulls show no fight in Columbus, fall to Crew 2-0

Posted on 17 July 2010 by Nathaniel E. Baker

The New York Red Bulls played another listless performance Saturday night and this time were punished by an efficient Columbus Crew squad. By taking all three points from the match, the Crew move five points clear of the Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference standings. With the way New York is playing right now, that would appear an insurmountable lead. Thierry Henry or not, the team is simply not doing enough in the middle of the park to generate goal scoring opportunities.

They had very few at Crew Stadium. In fact, it’s hard to say they had any. Maybe a volley by Tim Ream off a corner on the stroke of halftime qualifies. Either way it was snuffed out easily by William Hesmer.

It’s not worth putting together player ratings at this point either. Just about everybody was equally atrocious. A few exceptions: Bouna Coundoul looked fresh and in form and was not at fault on either goal. Carlos Mendes had a few nice tackles in the first half. Danleigh Borman had a couple of nice passes into space. And that’s about all the nice things we can say about the Red Bulls performance tonight.

Perhaps by Thursday this will all be forgotten. Perhaps Thierry Henry will reinvigorate this team on an even larger scale than anticipated. But right now the glaring question is who will get the Frenchman the ball. There doesn’t seem to be anybody up to the task.

Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people consider worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
