Collegiate academy grads update

The latest news on Dynamo Academy graduates plying their trade in the collegiate ranks:

Daniel Roberts (UNC-Wilmington / Fort Bend Clements / Texans) – Named Colonial Athletic Association co-Player of the Week after playing a major role in three of the Seahawks’ four goals in their come-from-behind, 4-3 overtime win over conference rival Drexel on Saturday. Roberts set up a first-half goal, then scored a 76th-minute penalty kick to tie the game and an overtime penalty for the win. Roberts is tied for the team lead with three goals, all from the penalty spot.

Josue Soto (Campbell / Monterrey, Mexico) – Started, played 102 minutes, and took two shots on goal in the Camels’ 3-2 overtime loss to William & Mary on Saturday.

Walberto (Pana) Vasquez (SMU / Cy Falls / Houstonians) – Has not played this season due to injury. No. 6 SMU lost to Tulsa 4-1.

Alex Dixon (North Carolina / Humble Atascocita / Texans) – Played final 12 minutes as a sub and had a shot on goal in North Carolina’s 2-1 win over Elon last Wednesday. The game-winning goal came just two minutes after Dixon entered the game. He played 52 minutes and scored as a sub in the Tar Heels’ 8-0 victory over East Tennessee State Saturday. The shot came from 25 yards out and was Dixon’s third goal of the year.

Edward Estrada (San Jacinto / Northbrook / Houstonians) – No information available.

Josue Garcia (San Jacinto / Jersey Village / Houstonians) – No information available.

Clayton Holz (Stanford / St. John’s / Houstonians) – Played 25 minutes as a sub and took one shot in Stanford’s 1-0 overtime loss to Santa Clara on Saturday before a crowd of 1,116.

Matt Kirby (Denver / Bmnt. Msgr. Kelly / Texans) – Started and played the first portion of each half, totaling 35 minutes, in Denver’s 2-0 road loss to Creighton, which is ranked as high as No. 5 in the country, on Saturday.

Carlos Recinos (Coastal Carolina / Cy Ridge / Houstonians) – Started, played 46 minutes, and scored the game-winning goal in the Chanticleers’ 3-2 overtime victory over the Virginia Military Institute in the Big South Conference opener on Sunday. After Coastal Carolina rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the second half to force overtime, and Recinos scored from 12 yards out in the 105th minute to decide the contest.
