Finish second at Rosario after loss to Australia

The U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team wrapped up its final training camp before the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a second-place finish at the Copa Cuidad de Rosario in Argentina. With a 3-1 loss to close out the round-robin tournament, Thomas Rongen’s side finished in second place behind local club CA Tiro Federal and ahead of third-place Australia and fourth-place finisher Uruguay. The U.S. returned to the United States with a 1-1-1 record in the four-team tournament after a win against Tiro Federal and a draw with Uruguay, which led to a shootout win for the Americans. The U.S. has been drawn into a difficult Group C of the FIFA U-20 World Cup and will match up against Germany on Sept. 26, Cameroon on Sept. 29 and Korea Republic on Oct. 2 in the first round. All three of the USA’s group matches will be played at the brand-new Mubarak Stadium in Suez, Egypt.
