The San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Seattle Sounders 1-0 to take three points at Qwest Field and all it took was three shots. But the real bombshell hit at the press conference when Sigi Schimd made several overtures seemingly directed at Freddie Ljungberg (left with Bobby Convey), wondering why unnamed players throw up their hands when there is a bad pass or arguing with the referee when the play is going on. Freddie Ljungberg, you are no longer in the good graces of Sigi Schmid and are officially on notice. Kyle Alm has more on that, plus be sure to check out the photo gallery.

A late equalizer from Chivas USA’s Justin Braun was wasted as Real Salt Lake’s Fabian Espindola scored the game winner less than a minute from time at the Home Depot Center Saturday night. Chivas USA head coach Martin Vasquez was not happy with his team’s performance “We came back in the second half and we were able to get a nice goal and play better, but we lost our focus in the 89th minute,” he said. ASN photographer Nigel Brooks was on hand at the Houston Dynamo’s 2-0 victory over DC United Saturday, May 22. A few of our favorites are on the Dynamo page, complete with snarky commentary (by ASN).
