After a hard fought four weeks for Toronto FC players, the month of June could have been anyone’s win in the polls. Yet young Nana Attakora’s performance stood out and ended up winning more than half of the total votes.

TFC’s monthly award is voted by the public which rewards players with an Esquire watch. In all fairness, this is an extensive victory for the young player against the likes of Dwayne De Rosario, Amado Guevara, and rookie Sam Cronin.

Nana established himself as a key player for Toronto FC’s defense. With Marvell Wynne’s absence or presence, Attakora made the defensive position his own whether playing on the right or in the centre of defense.  Attakora has also picked up a few assists this season when he was able to push up the field to assist the attack.

Nana was presented with the award prior to the start of the Houston Dynamo vs. Toronto FC game at BMO Field.

Previous TFC Player of the Month winners included Amado Guevara for the month of May and rookie keeper Stefan Frei for the month of April.
