Crew hope for reversal of fortunes

Posted on 29 May 2008 by Jim Baird

When the Crew and Chivas first met this season, it was a classic featuring nine cards, seven goals, two ejections and the home-side Columbus walking away 4-3 winners. This weekend is the sequel at the Home Depot Center.

The previous Crew victory over Chivas started a five game winning streak for the Black and Gold that catapulted them to the top of the league standings.

But a recent tough schedule has slowed their previously torrid point and goal pace.

The Crew have taken only one point in their last two games, including a 1-0 loss last Saturday at home against the Revolution. Their dangerous offense that features two of the league’s top scorers in Robbie Rogers and Alejandro Moreno has been held scoreless for 186 minutes.

The Crew are getting accustomed to playing away from home. The team is in the middle of playing five out of eight games away from the friendly confines of Columbus. This match up marks Columbus third road game during this road stretch.

Chivas enters the game on a two game win streak, including a victory last Saturday at Colorado. The team is lead by the ever dangerous Sacha Kljestan, whose four goals and three assists on the season fuel an offense that is the third highest scoring in the MLS.
