Jozy to start Copa del Rey match

Jozy Altidore is set to make his first start for Villareal when the Yellow Submarine face Polideportivo Ejido in their Copa del Rey matchup later today. “I need to get some games under my belt and this is a good time for me to play a game,” Altidore wrote in his New York Times Goal blog. The 19-year old former New York Red Bulls forward added “I’m just excited that I’m finally going to get to show what I can do and I hope I have a good showing and make a good impression. I just want to help the team in the tournament.”

The outcome was not what Jozy might have wanted, as the La Liga powerhouse dropped a 5-0 decision to Poli Ejido. Altidore had several scoring chances, but could not find the back of the net. Villarreal now has a huge uphill climb in the home lege if it hopes to advance past the Round of 32
